What is Bhangra?
For the past 10 years, Bhangra Fever has been New York’s premiere Bhangra competition. Teams from all around the world convene to celebrate the rich cultural fabric of Punjab. This year we are presenting the 10th-anniversary competition in Buffalo, New York. Over the past few years, Bhangra Fever has developed into a more mainstream competition and is becoming more and more distinguished in the circuit. With an unalloyed passion for Bhangra, we hope to provide the best competition to our fans and to give teams a memorable and unique experience.
Bhangra is an energetic and lively folk dance from the Punjab region of Northwestern India. Traditionally performed during the harvest season, Bhangra has advanced over recent decades and now enjoys a more diverse, international reputation, with teams from across the globe, and an increasingly active North American scene with collegiate and independent teams competing all over the continent.
